Meet the Teacher Behind It All
Hey besties!

My name is Leslie Marie Gutierrez, and I’m currently in my sixth year of teaching at North Shore Senior High School in Galena Park ISD—the same district where I grew up and went to school. GO STANGS!

I spent my first five years teaching 9th grade Biology, and this year I took a leap of faith into a new adventure: teaching 11th and 12th grade Anatomy and Physiology. I graduated from Lamar University in 2018 with a degree in Social Work, but my journey to education began shortly after college. While waiting to get into grad school, I started substitute teaching—and just a few days in, I realized I never wanted to leave the classroom. With encouragement from my former Assistant Principal (who’s now my principal and boss!), I pursued my teaching certification.

I’m currently certified in Life Science (7–12), and I plan to earn my ESL certification soon, with the goal of adding Technology Education to my portfolio in the near future.

Outside the classroom, I LOVE to travel. After I graduate, I’m planning a solo trip to Amsterdam to see the tulip farms in bloom—tulips are my favorite flower! When I’m not exploring new places, you’ll find me trying out new restaurants around Houston, reading a good book, or binge-watching a great show on Netflix.
